Kass is a very accomplished woman in all areas of her life. She was a worldclass tennis player and competed at the highest level. She has started and sold companies. And she is a wonderful mom and wife. But she does not seek or even like to receive any attention for her success. She looks inward -- inward to herself and her closest friends and family members -- for support, guidance, appreciation and approval.
This trait is one of Kass' strongest. She is able to compete at the highest levels (lets just say that I wouldn't want to own a company that competes with Buddy Media right now, mainly because of Kass!) but do so without seeking the attention and limelight others, including myself, crave. (Maybe this is why our relationship on the business side works. I play that role she actively tries to avoid - public face, speaker at industry events and primary press contact.)
So it was with significant pride that I read this profile of Kass by our friend Joanne Wilson, the proprietor of GothamGal.com, one of the most delicious blogs. Joanne captured Kass' story. But more importantly, she captured the essence of Kass:
I met Kass a few years ago and was immediately taken under her spell. Our mutual friend, Howard Lindzon, was in town and we all got together for dinner at Da Umberto in Chelsea with Kass and her husband Michael. Lots of wine and conversation and we were fast friends. Her energy, smarts and sheer drive is inspiring. On one hand I am surprised that nobody has written a piece on Kass before. CLICK TO READ THE ENTIRE STORY.
I've always been a fan of The Gotham Gal's -- both in person and print. Her stock just doubled for me.
